1. OVERVIEW
The Oregon Junior Golf Performance Points system is used to award a special Player of the Year trophy to the boy and girl competitor that has accumulated the most points at the end of the current golfing season. Tournaments receiving points must be OGA Sanctioned events open to all eligible Oregon Junior Golf Members and a player must be a member of Oregon Junior Golf at the time of the tournament to receive points. As indicated below, Oregon Junior Performance Points are just one criterion utilized in the selection of Boy’s and Girl’s Junior Teams that represent the Oregon Golf Association in selected competitions.
2. POINTS AWARDED
Provided they compete from the same set of tees, Oregon Junior Performance Points will be awarded to Juniors and Boys based upon their overall finish within the field (excluding Girls), not their finish within their respective age division. Likewise, points awarded to Junior Girls and Intermediate Girls will be based upon their field finish (excluding Boys), not their finish within their own division. Consideration to award performance points outside of Oregon Junior events will not be given.
3. JUNIOR TEAM SELECTION CRITERIA
Please note again that the seclection committee utilizes all of the above criteria to select the team. Conduct and sportsmanship play an important role in team selection.
The above selection criteria is used to award player positions on Oregon Boys’ and Girls’ Junior Americas’ Cup teams and Boys’ Hogan Cup teams and the Girls Pacific Ladies Junior team Matches. No golfer is eligible if they have turned 18 by the last round of any of these competitions.
Additionally, eligible team members must be a member of Oregon Junior Golf and be a permanent resident living with a parent(s) or legal guardian within the Oregon Golf Association’s region of Oregon and SW Washington. Special consideration may be given to unusual or unique circumstances. Though the selection committee uses the six (6) criteria listed above, please note that: sportsmanship and conduct may influence team selections!
