“The fiercest competitor I ever faced,” was how PNGA Hall of Fame member Don Krieger, of Portland, summed up what it was like facing Dick Price in a match. You could say when it came to golf, the long-time U.S. postal worker always delivered.
He is the only player in Northwest golf history to have won both the Oregon and Washington State Men´s Amateur championships twice. His remarkable 13 appearances on Hudson Cup Amateur teams is testament to his standing as one of the finest players of his era.
Dick´s often repeated philosophy in life was “the nicest thing you can say about a man is that he is a gentleman.”
