Thank you for your entry into the 31st Oregon Senior Amateur Championship, September 22 – 26, 2014 at Arrowhead Golf Club. Enclosed you will find your starting time for the stroke play qualifying round on Monday, September 22nd.
Women’s Division: The Women’s Division will complete an 18-hole stroke play qualifying round in order to determine match play seeds. There will be a playoff for the women immediately following play for a tie for the women’s medalist. Match play will begin on Tuesday and will finish on Wednesday. There will be a separate awards presentation for the women on Wednesday.
Men’s Division: The men will be completing an 18-hole stroke play qualifying round to determine the match play draws. There will be a playoff immediately following play on Monday in the event of a tie for the last qualifying spot into the championship flight of the Men’s Division, and/or a tie for the men’s medalist. The last place in additional flights will be determined by a scorecard playoff. The Men’s defending champion, Scott Hval, will assume the #2 seed in match play, if desired.
Additional player information:
Practice Round: Players may call Arrowhead Golf Club (503-829-8080) at anytime to make practice round arrangements. Practice rounds are on a space available basis anytime during the week prior. Please state that you are a Senior Amateur contestant. Players who wish to use their practice round are expected to abide by all club rules including pace of play.
Tees: Men will play from the Green Tee markers and the Women will play from the White Tee markers. Please see enclosed yardages.
Registration: All contestants are required to register in person prior to play in order to pick up their contestant packet and tee prize. Registration will be Monday, September 22nd from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Registration will be located outside, near the pro shop.
Golf Carts: The cart rental fee of TBD must be paid by the contestant to the pro shop at the time of rental. Please note that the OGA automotive cart policy stating a maximum of two carts per group will be in effect. As a reminder, please observe any cart path restrictions posted by Arrowhead Golf Club.
Caddies: You may bring your own; Arrowhead will not have caddies available.
Practice Range: Arrowhead's driving range will be open at TBD each day during the championship. Complimentary warm up range balls will be made available to contestants prior to each round courtesy of the OGA.
Spikeless Shoes: It is a condition of this competition that metal or traditionally designed spikes are prohibited. This includes alternative spikeless products, which are partially comprised of metal, when such metal comes in contact with the turf. The penalty for breach of this condition is disqualification.
Dress Code: Proper attire must be worn at all times. Proper attire does not include spandex body wear, cutoffs, running shorts, short-shorts, tank tops, tee shirts, or denim of any kind or color, or unkempt clothing of any kind. Neat and clean pants, skirts, slacks, cords, or appropriately hemmed, tailored shorts no more than 6 inches above the knee (men’s shorts must have a minimum of three pockets) are acceptable, as are sweaters and sweatshirts, golf shirts (men’s must have collars) women’s golf shirts and golf blouses. Shoes must be worn at all times. Contestants not in compliance with the OGA Dress Code will be Disqualified from the championship and removed from the golf course. All caddies and spectators must follow dress code guidelines.
Golf Balls: Optional condition for “Conforming Golf Ball” and the so called “One Ball Rule” is in effect as prescribed in Appendix I in the Rules of Golf.
Golf Clubs: Optional condition is in effect as prescribed in Appendix I in the Rules of Golf.
OGA Pace of Play Guidelines: will be in effect during the championship. Pace of play policy is enclosed and also will be available before each round at the starter’s tent.
Score Posting: will be done by the OGA for each round after the championship has been completed. The OGA will post each player’s adjusted score to GHIN as a tournament score, for handicapping purposes. For score posting purposes only, players are required to keep their hole-by-hole scores during match play.
Format: The men will play in the 18-hole stroke play qualifying round on Monday, September 22nd to determine their match play flight. All men’s flights are single elimination. The women will play in the 18-hole stroke play qualifying round on Monday, September 22nd to determine order of seeding. All Women’s Matches are single elimination. The Women’s Championship final matches will be Wednesday.

Match Play Starting Times: Contestants may acquire their Tuesday match play starting times by phoning (503-989-0069) any time between 5:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. on Monday evening. Starting times will also be available on the OGA website at www.oga.org. Please be mindful that the timely generation of Tuesday’s matches and starting times will be affected by any playoffs that may take place for the final qualifying berths.
Cancellations: It is extremely important that you contact the OGA office as soon as possible if you are forced to withdraw from the championship. We expect all entrants to complete their rounds and fulfill their playing obligations.
