WELCHES (Mt. Hood), Ore. – The Resort at The Mountain (The Resort), a premier golf resort located on the western slope of Mt. Hood, recently celebrated the completion of $1.5 million in upgrades and improvements on Foxglove Nine, part of The Courses historic 27-hole golf club which is undergoing a $3.7 million renovation.

The upgrades and improvements to Foxglove Nine include remodeled greens on holes 1, 5 and 6; and new tee boxes on holes 2, 3, 5, 6, 7 and 9.  All the sand bunkers have been renovated and upgraded with a much higher quality of sand as well as the addition of four new bunkers.  The addition of paved cart paths, and updated irrigation system have greatly improved course quality and conditions.

“We are excited about the improvements made to Foxglove Nine and those that are underway on Pine Cone and Thistle nines,” said Tony Lasher, golf superintendent at The Courses.  “As one of the regions most challenging golf destinations, we showcase everything that makes golf in the Pacific Northwest such a unique pastime.  This summer, golfers visiting The Resort will experience a new and challenging play surrounded by the beauty of Mt. Hood.”

The renovations were designed by premier firm, John Harbottle Design.  Under the direction of acclaimed course architect, John Harbottle, son of Pacific Northwest Hall of Fame golfers, Dr. John Harbottle, Jr. and Pat (Lesser) Harbottle, the design incorporates environmentally sensitive and award-winning layouts.

The Courses has earned distinction as a Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary and offers close proximity to the Salmon River and surrounding natural habitat.  For guests who wish to learn more about the serene area, The Resort offers complimentary guided nature walks around the Wee Burn Stream habitat with Golf Superintendent Tony Lasher and PGA Golf Professional Bryce Finnman.  Guests will witness the vibrant ecosystem firsthand, including Coho salmon spawning and stream restoration.  Special care is taken to ensure that the quality of water that enters each course is consistent with the quality that exits.

Guests interested in golf at The Resort are encouraged to book tee times.  For reservations, please contact The Courses at (503) 622-3151.
