2012 Women’s Team Championship Results

Day 2 of the 6^th Oregon Women’s Team Championship began very differently from the first day of competition. Day 1 brought sunny skies and temperate weather. On the second day, mother nature reminded us who was in control with unforeseen showers in the morning to start the round.

2012 Women’s Team Championship Recap Day 1

On Saturday, May 19, 2012 the 6^th OGA Women’s Team Championship was contested at Rock Creek Country Club in Portland, Oregon.

This unique event is a 36 hole four-ball competition, consisting of two-person teams from an OGA member club. In a four-ball competition, only the best ball on each hole counts toward the team score. The event is also flighted, with both gross and net prizes being awarded in each flight.

Registering for Championships and Events

All Championships require that you be a member in good standing of an OGA Member Club and have an active USGA Handicap with that club. Online registeration is the fastest and easiest way to register for an OGA event.

Pace of Play Guidelines

All OGA Adult Championships and selected Oregon Junior Golf Tournaments will be run with the following pace guidelines in effect. You are encouraged to read through these guidelines before you arrive at a competition.

Local Rules and Conditions of Competition

All Adult Championships and Oregon Junior Golf Tournaments will be contested with the OGA Local Rules and Conditions and Competition (Hard Card). You are encouraged to review the Local Rules and Conditions before you arrive at a competition. The day of the event you will also receive the Notice to Players containing supplemental Local Rules specific to each competition.

OGA Performance Points

Each year Performance Points are awarded to players in the Men's, Senior Men's and Women's Divisions in a variety of Match Play and Stroke Play events including tournaments conducted by the OGA, USGA, PNGA and the Pacific Northwest Section of the PGA.

Open Qualifying To Require New Groove Compliance

The condition of competition regarding groove rules, which was added to the Rules of Golf on Jan. 1, 2010 will now extend to all qualifying stages for the U.S. Open, U.S. Women’s Open and U.S. Senior Open including local qualifying for the US Open.

05/11/12 - 2012 Super Senior Recap

The 7th Annual Oregon Super Senior Championship contested May 9th-10th at Langdon Farms Golf Course in Aurora, Oregon resulted in some great competition with a playoff for the women and mere one-stroke victory in the men's division.

05/07/12 - OREGON GOLF ASSOCIATION CAPTURES 3rd STRAIGHT PNGA CUP

Victoria, B.C. - After the final individual match play competition at the 7^th annual Pacific Northwest Golf Association (PNGA) Cup, Oregon Golf Association (OGA) captured its third title in a row and its fifth overall.

Coming into the day, Oregon was comforted with a 2.5-point lead from its stellar play on day one. Close on their heels was British Columbia Golf, followed by Idaho Golf Association (3.5 points back) and the Washington State Golf Association (4 points back).

03/28/12 - Oregon Duck Invitational Results from Eugene Country Club

EUGENE - En route to his first collegiate win, senior Andrew Vijarro capped an impressive two-day run to win his first collegiate tourney Tuesday in the Oregon Duck Invitational at the Eugene Country Club. Senior Alex Moore and junior Nick Chianello each shot a 1-over 73 on Tuesday to lead the Oregon State men’s golf team to a fourth place finish at the 23rd Oregon Duck Invitational in Eugene, Ore., for its fourth top-five finish of the season.

03/28/12 - Viking Golfers Place Ninth at Anteater Invitational

Dove Canyon, CA - Portland State placed ninth at the Anteater Invitational, hosted by UC Irvine at Dove Canyon Country Club. Washington State won the tournament title with a 54-hole score of 904. BYU was second at 910. The Vikings shot 316-313-318=947 for ninth among 15 teams competing.

03/23/12 - 76th Legislative Assembly recognized Terri Frohnmayer

Salem, Ore. On February 24, 2012 the members of the Seventy-sixth Legislative Assembly recognized Terri Frohnmayer for her achievements on and off the course. She was the 2011 USGA Senior Women’s Amateur Champion, 2011 PNGA’s Senior Women’s Player of the Year and the 2011 Golfer of the Year for the OGA.

Long time respected volunteer and OGA Rules Official, Donald Joe Kowitz, Sr. died suddenly January 30, 2012 at the age of 80.

OGA Clarifies Rules Regarding Distance Measuring Devices

All players who intend to use an artificial device to measure distance during play of an OGA Championship or OGA Tour event should first confirm they are using a conforming device.
