Local Players Qualify for U.S. Mid-Ams

A combined four local golfers qualified to compete in the U.S. Mid-Amateur and U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur Championships set for mid-September.

Shannon Kennedy, from Portland, shot 11-over par to edge out Laura Arellano-Karki and Cheung Ching Ng and earn medalist honors and the lone spot into the women’s national championship, which is scheduled for Sept. 16-19 at Forest Highlands Golf Club in Flagstaff, Ariz.

Jake O’Neal, Jack Dukeminier and Philip Bagdade each earned spots into the men’s national championship to be played Sept. 16-19 at Colorado Golf Club in Parker, Colo.

O’Neal, from Vancouver, Wash., earned medalist honors with a 5-under par 67, while Dukeminier (-4) and Bagdade (-3) finished second and third respectively.

The OGA will administer its final local USGA qualifiers for the 2019 season with the U.S. Amateur Four-Ball and U.S. Women’s Amateur Four-Ball set for Oct. 14 at Willamette Valley Country Club.
