Kyra Ly won the Girls Open 12-18 Division while Collin Hodgkinson won the Boys Open 14-18 Division at the Klamath Basin Junior Championship played July 17-18 at Running Y Ranch in Klamath Falls. Results Photos Ly posted scores of 73 and 71 en route to finishing the event at even par, one stroke better than Baylee Hammericksen (76-69-145) who finished alone in second place. The win was Ly’s third this July having also topped the field at the Central Willamette Junior Championship played July 8-9 and the Oregon Junior Stroke Play the week prior to that. Graham Moody and Yvonne Vinceri won the top boys and girls divisions respectively at the Southern Oregon Junior Championship played July 15-16 at Rogue Valley Country Club in Medford. Results Moody shot back-to-back 70s en route to finishing the event 4-under par (70-70-140) – three strokes ahead of Riggs Loftin (69-74-143) who took second place in the Boys Open 14-18 Division. The United States Golf Association (USGA) will administer the 72nd U.S. Junior Amateur Championship July 15-18 at 7,339-yard, par-71 Inverness Club in Toledo, Ohio. Portland's Brody Marconi and Redmond's Sam Renner advanced to the national championship from the local U.S. Junior Amateur qualifier played June 17 at Trysting Tree Golf Club in Corvallis. Johnny Ward finished 2-under par to win the Boys Open Division and Kyra Ly finished 4-over par to win the Girls Open Division at the Central Willamette Junior Championship. The the first round was played July 8 at Willamette Valley Country Club, while the second round took place on July 9 and was held the following day at Arrowhead Golf Club. Oregon Junior Golf has named their teams for the 2019 Junior America’s Cup (JAC) and Girls Junior America’s Cup (GJAC) competitions for later in July. Both teams were selected based on a points system determined by player results. Blackhawk Golf Club in Edmonton, Alta., is the host venue for the 2019 Junior America’s Cup scheduled for July 22-25. Brandon Eyre and Kyra Ly won their respective divisions at the Oregon Junior Stroke Play Championship played July 2-4 at OGA Golf Course in Woodburn. The event was a three-day, 54-hole competition that included a cut after day one. By Ron Bellamy Andrew Reinhardt says he doesn’t think about THAT putt very often, in fact hardly at all, as he looks forward to competing in the Oregon Golf Association’s 89th annual Bob Norquist Junior Amateur that starts Monday, June 24, at Oswego Lake Country Club. For the record, it was a 37-footer on the par 3 No. 17 hole at Trysting Tree Golf Club in Corvallis, and when it fell into the hole for a birdie it gave the Jesuit High School junior a one-stroke lead with one hole to play in the 6A boys state championship last month. The Oregon Junior Golf major tournament circuit continued June 18-19 with the Peter Jacobsen Junior Challenge played at Trysting Tree Golf Club. There were 201 combined boys and girls competing at the two-day, 36-hole stroke play event. There were 10 separate divisions, with the boys and girls ages 15-18 participating in a qualifier for IMG Academy Junior World Championships. Results Isaac Buerger (-10), Ethan Tseng (-4) and Graham Moody (even) were the boys that qualified, while Mary Scott Wolfe (+4), Elli Gordon (+4) and Olivia Venderby (+7) qualified for IMG on the girls side.
