The OGA Golf Course recently hosted a day of golf with local veterans on Sept. 12. The VA is partnering with the Professional Golf Association (PGA) to bring a specialized golf program to disabled Veterans. This is a therapeutic program to aid in the rehabilitation process.
The purpose of the program is to help Veterans assimilate back into their communities through the social interaction the game of golf provides. Led by PGA professionals – certified in golf instruction for Veterans with disabilities Veterans – will provide Veterans with the opportunity to learn the basic swing techniques. This clinic is held at the Oregon Golf Association Course in Woodburn, Oregon, and is a one day clinic. Veterans are broken down into small groups at the driving range stall and the Golf Professionals provide 1:1 instruction throughout the day teaching them the basic swing techniques, or assisting them to perfect their current swing
