Oregon State's Ellie Slama Invited to Inaugural Augusta National Women's Amateur
AUGUSTA, Ga. - Reigning Oregon Women's Amateur champion and Oregon State sophomore Ellie Slama (Salem, Ore.) will compete at the Inaugural Augusta National Women's Amateur April 3-6, 2019 in Augusta, Ga.
The prestigious event includes 72 of the top women's amateur golfers from around the globe. While the first two rounds will be competed at Champions Retreat Golf Club, the final round will be played at Augusta National, featuring the top-30 players who make the cut.
Slama, 20, continued her elite play as of late during Oregon State's fall season, winning the Trinity Forest Invitational. She earned his first individual collegiate title last year, as a freshman, at the Ron Moore Invitational. Slama is currently the No. 100 ranked women's amateur golfer in the world, according to the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR).
In OGA events during 2018, Slama won both the Oregon Women's Amateur Championship and the Oregon Women's Stroke Play Championship. She's a two-time Oregon Junior Amateur champion and also won the 2015 Oregon Junior Stroke Play Championship.
