San Diego Leads 50th Hogan Cup After First Round

PORTLAND, Ore. – The team representing the San Diego Junior Golf Association leads the 50th Eddie Hogan Cup Team Matches after the first day of play took place on Saturday, Aug. 11, at Riverside Golf & Country Club in Portland, Ore.

San Diego sits at 3-under par for a team, firing a total of 213 on Saturday. The squad was led by Caden Fioroni, who also leads individually, after the 16-year-old shot an unbelievable round of 66 (-6). The San Diego native compiled five birdies and an eagle during his round on Saturday, only bogeying one hole.

Enrique Rodeo shot a 1-under par 71 and Jackson Moss fired a 4-over par 76 to round out the team total for San Diego. A team representing San Diego has not won the Hogan Cup since 1997.

The squad from the Junior Golf Association of Arizona sits in second place, finishing at 2-under (214) after 18 holes. Two team members finished their first round under par: Tucker Clark and Gavin Aurillia, as the two shot 70 and 71, respectively. Mahanth Chirravuri rounded out the team total with a 1-over par 73.

Southern California, last year’s champions, is in third place at 217 (+1). Harrison Kingsley led the defending champions after firing a 4-under par 68 and sits in second place individually.

Team Oregon #1 is in seventh place at 227 (+11). Team Oregon #2 sits in ninth place at 231 (+15).
