Champions Crowned at Oregon Super Senior, Women's Stroke Play Championships

The Oregon Women’s Stroke Play and the Oregon Super Senior championships took place June 11-12 at Michelbook Country Club in McMinnville.

Isabelle Taylor ran away from the field with a 36-hole score of 9-under par to earn medalist honors at the Oregon Women’s Stroke Play Championship. Taylor, from Queensland, Australia, carded a final-round 67, including birdies on her first four holes.

Taylor, soon-to-be a freshman for the Oregon State University women’s golf team, carded a first-round 68 to lead the competition after day one. Victoria Gailey (Tigard) finished second at 4-over par (74-74-148).

Loree McKay (Portland) picked up a title in the senior division after tallying a pair of 76s to finish 8-over par.

In the Oregon Super Senior Championship it was Pat O’Donnell and Cindy Anderson who won their respective divisions.

O’Donnell, from Happy Valley, finished 3-under par (72-69-141) – ending the event as the only player in red figures. Denny Taylor (Gladstone) was four strokes back in second at 1-over par (74-71-145).

Anderson, from Eugene, was the overall champion on the women’s side, carding back-to-back 86s for the division crown.

The Oregon Golf Association’s Championship schedule continues next week with the 110th playing of the Oregon Amateur Championship, held June 17-22 at Portland Golf Club.
