The stroke play qualifying has concluded at the 90th Bob Norquist Oregon Junior Amateur Championship. This year’s event, held June 29-July 3 at OGA Golf Course in Woodburn, features a combined seven different divisions for boys and girls that range from age 8 to 18.
In the Boys Open 14-18 Division, Collin Hodgkinson finished stroke play qualifying atop the leaderboard at 6-under par. He posted back-to-back 69s – with 11 birdies scattered across the two rounds.
Hodgkinson was one of five players in the top boys division to finish stroke play under par. Brandon Eyre, who advanced to the quarterfinal round at last week’s Oregon Amateur Championship, finished second at 4-under par (70-70). He takes the No. 2 seed into match play.
Graham Moody ended the qualifying alone in third place at 2-under par (68-74), while Nicholas Watts (70-73) and Naoki Easterday (71-72) finished tied for fourth at 1-under.
In the Girls Open 12-18 Division, Hannah Lim, Emily Song and Kyra Ly finished 1-2-3 over the two rounds of stroke play qualifying. Lim (76-72), who finished 2-over par, will take the top seed into the match play portion of the event. Song (76-73) was 3-over, while Ly (73-77) was 4-over par.
Sophie Dalfonsi (81-75) and Sofia Fuenmayor (80-76) tied for fourth at 10-over par.
All players, from each of the seven different divisions, will continue play on Wednesday in the match play portion of the competition. The championship flights in the top boys and girls divisions include a 32-player match play bracket. The tournament concludes with Friday’s match play finals.
