OJG Majors Schedule Reaches Midway Point with Central Willamette Junior Championship

Johnny Ward finished 2-under par to win the Boys Open Division and Kyra Ly finished 4-over par to win the Girls Open Division at the Central Willamette Junior Championship. The the first round was played July 8 at Willamette Valley Country Club, while the second round took place on July 9 and was held the following day at Arrowhead Golf Club.

Ward, from Lake Oswego, was the only competitor to finish the event under par. He posted a first-round 73, but followed that up with a 68 on Tuesday. Ward (73-68-141) won by three strokes over Danny Hext, from Beaverton, who finished 1-over par (74-70-144).

Ly, from Portland, posted rounds 74 and 73 to finish six strokes ahead of the field. Alexa Udom (Portland) and Emily Song (Beaverton) finished tied for second at 10-over par.

The win was Ly's second in consecutive weeks. She topped the field at last week's Oregon Junior Stroke Play Championship shooting even par through the 54-hole competition played at OGA Golf Course in Woodburn.

The Oregon Junior Golf major tournament schedule continues July 15-18 with a pair of events held in Medford and Klamath Falls. The Southern Oregon Junior Championship is slated for July 15-16 at Rogue Valley Country Club and the Klamath Basin Junior Championship follow that on July 17-18.

  • Pee Wee Boys 10-11: Carson Krauss (Grants Pass)
  • Pee Wee Boys 8-9: Mason MacKenzie (West Linn)
  • Pee Wee Girls 10-11: Layla Sidhu (Woodburn)
