118 juniors competed in the 54-hole stroke play gross tournament.
Hodgkinson won the Boys 12-18 Division with a (69-68-72) for a 7-under par finish. He had seven birdies in his first round and had a bogey-free second round along with four birdies.
It was Hodgkinson's second major tournament win in a row this season, as he also won the Peter Jacobsen Junior Challenge on June 15-16 at Trysting Tree Golf Club in Corvallis.
“This is one of our premier events,” Shanda Imlay the Director of Oregon Junior Golf said. “It has a handicap index requirement and it also is one of the events that has three rounds. 14 girls played and 44 boys played today after cuts were made. Chehalem Glenn is such a great event because it tests your golf game, plus your mental and physical.”
Drew Woolworth took second place shooting (73-71-69) 3-under par which included four birdies in his final round. Eli Huntington finished in third place shooting (69-73-72) 2-under par. Sam Renner (68-74-73) took fourth place finishing 1-under par.
In the Girls 12-18 Division, Ly (70-74-70) finished 2-under par beating out Yvonne Vinceri (75-71-70) who finished even-par taking second place. Ly had three birdies and only one bogey in both her opening and final rounds of the tournament.
Vinceri nearly won her third straight major tournament after winning both the Centennial Junior Championship and Peter Jacobsen Junior Challenge earlier in June.
Natalie Yen (71-75-71) took third place with a 1-over par.
“It’s going to be interesting at the Junior Amateur, they're (Hodgkinson & Ly) both playing well right now,” Imlay said. “We'll be announcing the Junior America Cup teams after the Junior Amateur so everyone is watching those points.”
The next OGA Junior Golf major tournament is the 91st Bob Norquist Oregon Junior Amateur scheduled for June 28-July 2 at Buffalo Peak Golf Course in Union.
