Team Oregon #1 won the 51st Hogan Cup played Aug. 10-11 at Riverside Golf & Country Club in Portland. It marks the eighth time that a team from Oregon has won the competition – the second time in the last four years of the event.
Team Oregon #1, one of two teams in the competition representing Oregon & Southwest Washington, entered Sunday’s final round in third place after finishing day one at 5-over par (221). Teams from San Diego (217) and Southern California (218) jumped out to the lead on Saturday.
With clutch play and low scores by Graham Moody (69), Collin Hodgkinson (70) and Johnny Ward (70), Team Oregon #1 came from behind to post a final-round 209 and take the team title (221-209-430).
San Diego (217-215-432) and Hawaii (227-210-437) placed second and third respectively.
Luke Potter, representing the San Diego Junior Golf Association, earned individual medalist honors at 4-under par (70-70-140).
The low individual finisher representing Oregon and Southwest Washington was Ward (73-70-143), who finished in a tie for third at 1-under par. Teammates Brandon Eyre (73-72-145) and Hodgkinson (75-70-145) tied for fifth at 1-over.
