Tennant Takes on Field at 2019 U.S. Senior Women's Open

SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. – Portland’s Lara Tennant will compete in the second annual U.S. Senior Women’s Open slated for May 15-19 at Pine Needles Lodge & Golf Club in Southern Pines, N.C.

Tennant’s start time is set for 5:03am (PDT) on Thursday. She is paired with the defending champion Laura Davies (England) and Michele Redman (Minneapolis, Minn.).

Tennant qualified last year with her win at the inaugural U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur held Oct. 6-11, 2018 at Orchid Island Golf & Beach Club in Vero Beach, Fla.

Live scoring will be available courtesy of the USGA, linked both from USGA.org and OGA.org. The event will be televised May 18-19 on FS1.

Tennant was the 2018 Oregon Golf Association Golfer of the Year. She solidified her standing as a top-tier senior women’s amateur golfer in 2018, a year highlighted by her title at the 2018 U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur Championship. That week included 36-holes of stroke play qualifying, followed by six matches, all in a span of six days.

She also won titles in 2018 at both the Oregon Senior Women’s Amateur and Oregon Women’s Mid-Amateur Championships. Tennant also finished second at the California Senior Women’s Amateur a year ago.

Tennant was named the 2018 Pacific Northwest Golf Association (PNGA) Senior Women’s Player of the Year. She also earned All-Amateur first-team honors in Global Golf Post within the Senior Women’s division.
